Full English Romance. (Re-edited) By CpSingleton © 2014
Egg and sausage wanted to marry.
There love was pure.
Based not only on the colour and
The fullness of her yolk or on
His length and girth and hue.
There love was erected on
The stability of four strong pillars,
Each promoting their expressive flag.
The first pillar represented the faith
They both had in each other.
No amount of boiling oil or
Burning flame could destroy it.
The second pillar denoted the
Strength of their compassion.
There wasn’t a mountain of toast or
River of beans they wouldn’t find a way across
To save an innocent hash brown,
Or an abused and maligned
Black pudding, stuck under the
Force of a fried bread crust.
The third shined brightly for honesty.
For without the honesty they shared
They would be merely two lost articles
Of a larger breakfasting world.
Four stood proudly for resilience
In a world where solitary sausages and
Elegant eggs were
Persecuted by scorching heat and
Stabbed mercilessly by
Prongs of the sharpest stainless steel, but
To fall in love with one of
Different food stocks was
To open widely the ketchup floodgates!
They stood before that deluge!
Their loving arms spread wide;
Their unwavering fingers interlaced,
Knowing that not even a
Cumberland ring and an ostrich egg
Could come between them!
The mushrooms were in awe,
The tomatoes swooned and
The bacon formed a path for their escape.
