The universe is smiling down
Through ancient spire.
Through well trod floorboards.
It passes windows where
Eyes of long ago did peer.
It smiles down onto nature’s glory.
It tickles scattered dust
Into a diamond glittering
Dance of light wonderment.
It’s message: a warm smile.
It glides open-armed toward me,
Hushing the negative on my lips.
Is this the new beginning?
Is this the gravity and apple moment?
Is positivity a force I once applied.
Yet, over time and broken mind I
Have allowed the philosophy to
Slip like egg yolk on a hot fork
Down the white shirt of positivity
I once wore only after breakfast?
Recently the shirt has grown too
Uncomfortable to wear as
It wrinkles with lack of care:
The stains mounting to discolour.
I must invest in a new crisper shirt.
One that paints a smile and whose
