Wednesday 4th January
My dearest Mol,
Another day without seeing your wonderful smile passes.
I rang our Kevin today, love.
It was actually lovely to hear his voice. He’s a good lad.
He says he will visit in a week or two. He joked that he would if I promised to open the door, as he apparently dropped by twice and I didn’t answer.
I said I would.
He asked me how I’ve been.
I have to admit to telling him a little white lie, love. I know we promised to never lie to the kids, but I couldn’t really tell him his old dad was a bloody mess, could I?
He said he was missing you.
He also said that our Karen’s got into Oxford. Isn’t that amazing?
Who would’ve thought. She must get her clever mind and writing from her grandma, eh?
There was a book in you, without a doubt. It’s a pity you didn’t go back to Hallmark after you had our Kevin.
Anyway, I’ve tried to feel better today. I got myself dressed and went for a walk. Unfortunately it threw it down and I only got as far as Chester Street, because I forgot to take my brolly. But at least I tried, love.
I do hope you forgive me for being angry at you.
All the best, my lovely lady.
Speak again tomorrow, unless you can get down to see me?
