Midnight Me. By CpSingleton © 2017
I shrugged and did as Me requested, which was sit.
I was intrigued to find his colour less ice blue and more of a warmer purple, now that I was face to face.
The gravestone, however, immediately felt like it was freezing my bum cheeks.
‘Don’t worry, you’ll get used to it,’ Me told me. ‘Or your arse Cherie will fall off and drop out of yo r jean legs,’ The strange creature added before cackling so loud that it scared some unseen animals into squealing within the bushes they were quietly hiding in.
Despite Me obviously not being of human stock, which was apparent by the six horns that protruded from its forehead like a crown and the way…
‘Can you read my mind?’ I asked.
‘You either can or you can’t. If you can, why ask me so many questions?’
‘I can pick on things, yes. I asked because it’s only polite and it established a baseline to whether or not you are to be trusted?’
‘A what line? Trusted for what?’
‘Friendship, of course.’
‘You want me as a friend?’ I asked, not disguising my surprise to well.
‘Don’t you want me as a friend?’ Me asked.
‘I suppose I’d rather have you as a friend than be eaten.’ I told him, unsure of the right answer, yet knowing that he’d see through a lie like looking through a plain glass window.
‘Well isn’t that just so heartwarming. I feel so honoured that, if I had a similar cardiovascular to your own, my main pump would fill with tears.’
I must admit to not fully grasping his meaning at the time.
